Outdoor Gear for Dogs

Hello! And welcome back to the Live Life Off Leash Blog!

Today we would like to talk about some of the best outdoor gear for dogs. As we have hiked and traveled a ton with our dogs we wanted to share some of our tried and true must haves for adventuring out into the great outdoors with your dog. If you're hiking, camping or just going for a day walk, these are some of our favorite things to take along.

Number one is hands down, a collapsible bowl! These are so handy, cheap and easy to find at just about anywhere they sell pet gear. We highly recommend getting the ones that have the carabiner clips so you can hook them to your belt, your dogs harness or pack, your leash or anywhere else. These are great for food or water. They are made for food or water and are great for dogs that have a hard time drinking out of anything but a bowl. These are always a must have, and we don't leave home without them.

Coming in number two is a blinking dog tag! These are little lights that when attached to the collar and turned on blink in the dark so you can always see your pet. These are especially great for camping or early morning or late hikes where your dog may be off leash and could be hard to see in the dim outdoor light. Absolutely worth every penny to be able to find your dog in the dark.

And last but not least, we recommend a K9 Sling. Although a little pricey, these are literally a life saver if your dog ever were to get injured out on the trail. These slings create a harness around your dog, and "backpack" type straps so you can literally carry your dog out of the back country if they were ever unable to walk. Many people don't consider that out in the outdoors your dog is just as much at risk of injury as you are, and this is a way to make sure that you can safely carry them out. These can generally be found at specialty outdoor stores or online.

These are our must have for adventuring in the outdoors. Taking your dog into the wild is some of the most fun you and your dog can have and these make it easier and safer. As always, feel free to contact us with questions or to talk about your pet, lifestyle and nutrition. As always, have fun out in the great outdoors and Life Life Off Leash!
