Your Cat's Urinary Health

Hello and welcome back to the Live Life Off Leash Blog!

We are going to switch gears a little bit today and talk about our Feline Friends specifically. Cats are just as much part of our families as dogs are, but they come with their own special set of needs. Cats have distinct nutritional and emotional needs based off of their age, breed and lifestyle just like dogs. But beyond that a good number of cats struggle with urinary tract health. Keep reading for tips to help maintain your cats urinary health and keep them comfortable year round!

There are several complications of the urinary tract that can plague cats more than any other animal really. Kidney infections, obstructions and several other conditions just to name a few. So, how do you help keep your cat healthy and pain free? First, look at nutrition. Cats with urinary problems require a high quality pet food that has specific amounts of vitamins and minerals. Ask us what pawTree could do for your cat if they suffer from urinary problems!

Another thing is to make sure they have enough water. Cat's can dehydrate easily. Some sneaky ways to get more water into your cat are wet food, and adding a tiny bit of flavor to their water. Another is fountains. Cats love running water and will generally drink higher amount with a fountain. The more hydrated they are the easier it is on their urinary tract.

And last but not least always make regular visits to your vet. He can help prevent problems before they start and keep you cat on a good plan moving forward. If you have questions regarding your pets diet, feel free to contact us. We'd love to help!
